Sources of remote sensing data: OSUView - an OhioView site at The Ohio State University. Check out OhioView for images of Ohio. Use the Landsat-7 image server to download images of Ohio. Also, on Region 1 - map your PC to the network drive: \\Gentle\CERS. You'll see the various datasets available for Ohio. The TerraServer that contains maps and aerial photographs. USGS Earthshots that contain satellite images of environmental change. EarthExplorer at the USGS to look for satellite imagery, aerial photography and cartographic products. Global Visualization - GloVis - viewer at the USGS to look for satellite imagery around the world. Weather images from NOAA. Michigan State University (Great Lakes Forest Information Center) has a great archive of imagery over the Upper Great Lakes area (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan) for $25 a scene. Some small image (512 by 512) downloads that can be imported into Imagine and also used in a free software called MultiSpec. Professional Societies: American Society of Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing Provisional certification - Certified Mapping Scientist, Remote Sensing (C.P.M.) for students - ASPRS University Consortium on Geographic Information Science Tutorials: The Remote Sensing Core Curriculum, an ASPRS initiative for international education. Landsat-7 educational materials by the Landsat-7 Project Science Team Office Remote Sensing Using Satellites - focused on weather, located at UCAR Hyperspectral imaging: EO-1 Hyperion instrument Hyperspectral imagery information Spectral reflectance curves from NASA Jet Propulsion Lab. Landsat-7 sites: Landsat-7 Gateway at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Landsat-7 page maintained by the NASA Ames Research Center Landat Program web site at USGS; Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM). Visualization of remote sensing data done by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. A web site developed by an Ohio high school teacher - Jackie Kane - working with OhioView Consortium. SPOT satellite: SPOT Image Corporation site. Commercial satellites: Airborne laser mapping: SRTM at USGS; SRTM at JPL; Mt St Helens example at NASA Airborne laser mapping companies Vegetation Canopy Lidar (VCL) at NASA; VCL at University of Maryland Thermal remote sensing: Misc. Items: This program from NASA will calculate when a satellite is passing overhead. |
