Course Description: An introduction to geomatics, with an emphasis on basic data collection using ground-based measurement techniques and basic photogrammetry.

Text: Wolf, P.R. and C.D. Ghilani, 2002. Elementary Surveying: An Introduction to Geomatics, 10th edition. A field notebook (about $3) and a 3H or 4H pencil are required for the field labs. You may want to purchase a Zip disk or a CD-RW to save your data files.

Prerequisites: Math 153; Physics 131 and EG166 (or equivalent); and prereq or concur CE405.

Attendance: Students are expected to attend each class and lab session. Class is held from 11:30-12:18 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in HI031X. Laboratory sessions of three hours each (check your schedule) are on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (section 04348-3) in BO422.

Exams: 45% of grade - 2 midterms and a final exam.

Laboratory exercises: 35% of grade. Labs that are turned in late incur a -10% penalty per day each day that the lab is late. After I've passed back a graded lab for a particular assignment, labs will not be accepted. Please follow the lab format.

Homework: 20% of grade. Homeworks that are turned in late incur a -10% penalty per day each day that the homework is late.
